On Monday, January 23, the new catering service of the municipality of Rapallo (GE), which will be managed by Markas until 2022, was officially inaugurated. Markas, leading catering service provider, has been operating in Rapallo since 2007. A total of 800 thousand meals will be distributed to the six schools and transported to the Social Inclusion Center and at home for the elderly. Among the novelties, the distribution of breast milk at the nursery school and scrupulous attention to the menus including special diets (for intolerances or religious reasons). Stop surpluses or food waste thanks to the possibility for children to take non-perishable food at home in the Doggy Bags, while food cooked but not consumed will be given to those in need in collaboration with the Good Samaritan project. The catering service will be sustainable and energy efficient thanks to the new photovoltaic plant installed on the cooking centre and electric cars to carry the meals.

The newspaper “Il Secolo XIX” reports about this in its edition of January 24th, 2018.
