During the 5th edition of the RSA Summit-Planet Health, which took place on March 23 in Milan, Andrea Tezzele, director for quality and control at Markas, presented a pilot project that aims at a cleaning services with “zero environmental impact”. The best-practice was implemented at the hospital of Desenzano del Garda (Italy), where Markas is responsible for the cleaning service. Reacting to the incentives provided by the current legislature on this issue, as a first step the company measured the environmental impact of its services using the EPD (European Product Declaration).  In order to minimize and neutralize detrimental environmental effects, Markas then introduced various optimization and compensation measures, amongst others by planting trees and producing renewable energy. With this, Markas has created a “green” cleaning service and given a valuable example of how companies can actively contribute to protecting the environment.

The bimonthly magazine of technology and health economics “Teme” reports about this in its edition of April 1, 2016.
